Our residents and families rest assured knowing that our team at Monte Vista retirement village Taupō is providing class-leading care. We are proud that Monte Vista currently holds 4 year certification from the Ministry of Health, placing it within an elite group of homes independently assessed as providing a very high quality of care.

Monte Vista is the only independent hospital-level care provider in the greater Taupō area not related to a retirement village operator. This means that all our efforts at Monte Vista are focussed solely on providing great care, without compromise or distraction.

Our Retirement Village in Lake Taupō

As one of the most iconic towns in New Zealand, Lake Taupō provides a quintessentially Kiwi locale for great rest care. Nestled in a quiet suburb (while still being just a stone’s throw away from the town centre), Monte Vista boasts exceptional views of Lake Taupō and Mt Ruapehu, guaranteed to delight residents and families alike. The building itself provides a perfect interior for great care. Based on an easy layout with wings extending out from a central communal lounge, with all bedrooms conveniently close to it and the dining room. Each wing sports a separate smaller lounge often used as a quiet space, allowing for flexible living options. We welcome visits from potential residents and families. We encourage all residents to bring their personal belongings with them to personalize their rooms, and to make them really feel at home. Ornaments, wall hangings, and photo albums are welcome in your new home, and we can always make arrangements to move your possessions into your room before your admission date to ease your transition.

While Hospital-level care is usually provided within facilities we commonly call ‘rest homes’, it differs from rest home care because of the more sophisticated medical care provided to the resident. Monte Vista understands that hospital-level care requires specialised clinical expertise and equipment to manage the complex needs of each resident.

Our Medical Care

Our medical care is focused on firstly understanding, and then treating conditions in the best way possible. We do everything within our power to alleviate pain, increase mobility, and enhance the quality of the lives of our residents. With a team of specialist medical practitioners on call, you never have to doubt that your needs are going to be attended to.

I get on so well with all the staff, they are marvellous. We have lots of fun and laughter. I feel so secure here, and warm and happy. I think I have the best room at Monte Vista because of the view of the mountains and lake. My family visit often and they are happy that I feel so settled. I enjoy the entertainment, especially the line dancers and the lady who comes to play the piano accordion. Every Monday the Piano Ladies come and we all do lots of singing. Kath and I always sing the Monte Vista theme song, which is ‘It’s a Long Way to Tipperary"
